A super-efficient loyalty card

Customers can choose from 3 types of Joyn loyalty cards. Firstly, they can download and use the Joyn consumer app in order to save their loyalty points. Secondly, brand new customers can use a loyalty card that is printed on a merchant flyer. And thirdly, customers who do not own a smartphone can get a plastic loyalty card.

The Joyn consumer app is available on Android and iOS. Smartphone users can also seamlessly combine their digital Joyn loyalty card with the Payconiq by Bancontact app. Once the merchant has entered the payable amount, the customer can make the payment and add the Joyn loyalty points with a smarthphone. Easy for everyone.

Joyn allows merchants to:

  • Attract new customers
  • Reward loyal customers
  • Win back any 'lost' customers
  • Get to know their customers better
  • Boost the number of customer visits
  • Increase their average customer spend

Joyn therefore offers a guaranteed return on investment. For instance, merchants who organise Joyn email promotional campaigns will see their sales rise by 15%, and if they add coupons to the mix, their sales growth can be as high as 35%.

And there is more. The Joyn loyalty solutions also offer merchants a wealth of customer information and the possibility to contact prospects thanks to the performant marketing platform. As a result, merchants can meet their customers’ needs even better, for instance with exclusive promotions. So the more people use Joyn cards with the merchant, the more people the merchant can reach.

The Joyn Public API Documentation has more technical details.

Who can offer the Joyn digital loyalty solutions?

Third-party developers of point-of-sale applications such as cash register systems can integrate the Joyn loyalty solutions in their software. This means that a cash register system can display the sales amount and the Joyn QR code directly on the merchant’s iPad or on the customer’s receipt. All the customer needs to do to receive the loyalty points is scan the code with the Joyn consumer app. And if the customer doesn’t have a smartphone, the merchant's iPad can be used to scan the customer's plastic Joyn card and award the customer's loyalty points that way.

E-commerce software providers can also use several techniques to integrate Joyn. A webstore or e-commerce system can display the loyalty points as QR codes or mobile links on the order confirmation page or email. Customers can then scan this code with the Joyn consumer app or click on the mobile link with their smartphone to receive the loyalty points instantly.

How do these solutions work?

The merchant can integrate Joyn into the customer flow in 3 ways:

1. The online merchant can display the Joyn loyalty token on the electronic order confirmation

For more technical details on this type of integration, read the Loyalty Token section of the Joyn Public API Documentation.

  1. Firstly, the customer makes a purchase online.
  2. After payment, the customer receives an electronic order confirmation. The order confirmation shows the earned Joyn loyalty points and a Joyn loyalty token. This token can be a QR code that the customer can scan with the Joyn consumer app, or an URL that the customer can open on a smartphone.
  3. The customer then scans the QR code with the Joyn consumer app or opens the URL on a smartphone.
  4. After that, the customer receives the Joyn loyalty points. The customer can then spend those points at the same store.

2. The in-store merchant can print the Joyn loyalty token on the cash receipt

For more technical details on this type of integration, read the Loyalty Token section of the Joyn Public API Documentation.

  1. Firstly, the customer makes a purchase at a physical store.
  2. After payment, the customer receives a cash receipt. The receipt shows the earned Joyn loyalty points and a Joyn loyalty token. This token is a QR code that the customer can scan with the Joyn consumer app.
  3. The customer then scans the QR code with the Joyn consumer app.
  4. After that, the customer receives the Joyn loyalty points. The customer can then spend those points at the same store.

3. The in-store merchant can also use an iPad to offer the Joyn loyalty points

For more technical details on this type of integration, read the Scan Session section of the Joyn Public API Documentation.

  1. Firstly, the customer makes a purchase at a physical store.
  2. The merchant enters the sale amount in the POS or cash register system.
  3. After payment, the POS or cash register system sends the sale amount to the merchant’s iPad.
  4. The merchant’s iPad shows the earned loyalty points and a Joyn QR code.
  5. The customer then uses the Joyn consumer app to scan the QR code shown on the merchant’s iPad. If the customer does not have a smartphone, the merchant can scan the customer's plastic Joyn loyalty card with the iPad in order to award the points.
  6. After that, the customer receives the Joyn loyalty points. The customer can then spend those points at the same store.

Competitive pricing

Joyn is completely free to customers. The merchant pays a small monthly contract charge. This contract then entitles the merchant to unlimited use of most Joyn features. Certain custom campaigns require an extra.

If the merchant wants to offer the iPad option, the iPad device is the only requirement. There are no other investment costs.

Joyn partner requirements

The merchant must participate in the Joyn loyalty programme and have an active Joyn contract.

If the merchant wants to use the loyalty tokens to award points, a partner key, shop reference and shared secret are required. For further technical details, read the Loyalty Token section of the Joyn Public API Documentation.

If the merchant wants to use the iPad functionality to award points, the merchant must have an iPad. In that case, a unique Joyn POS ID is also required. For further technical details, read the Scan Session section of the Joyn Public API Documentation.

The merchant can request the API credentials from Joyn. The Joyn Public API Documentation also has more info on using the API.
